Keeping Fit in Cranbrook
Keeping yourself fit and healthy has never been easier thanks to all of the fitness and sports clubs available in Cranbrook! Want to get fit for your kids? Maybe you want to slim down for summer? Whatever your reasoning, Cranbrook has a club or activity that’s going to suit you.
One way to keep fit AND to socialise (and who doesn’t love killing two proverbial birds with one stone) is to join a sports team and in Cranbrook we have plenty to choose from. If football is your thing then Cranbrook United cover both juniors and adults and play regularly, competing against local team in the league. If you suffer from two left feet then why not take a look at the Cranbrook Table Tennis Club, the Cranbrook Netball Club or the Cranbrook Badminton Club? All of these groups meet regularly in Cranbrook and always welcome newcomers! For more details on when these clubs meet, take a look at the Cranbrook Community Association groups page.
If teams’ sports aren’t for you then you will be pleased to know that there are still lots of groups and clubs that you can join to help keep you fit. The Cranbrook Cycle Club has a dedicated Facebook page allowing cyclists from across Cranbrook to connect and meet on informal rides. Cranbrook Phys Troop offers brilliant fitness sessions delivered by serving Royal Marines Physical Trainers (and who wouldn’t want to be as fit as a Royal Marine?!). Cranbrook TAGB Tae Kwon Do meets regularly across both the Younghayes Centre and the Education Campus offering both junior and adult classes. Exeter College Running Club have recently added a youth group to their running club, meaning they now cater for anyone 14+. Finally, for those wanting to tone while keeping fit we have Poise Fitness who hold Pilates classes at the Education Campus on a Friday evening.
If you’d like to know more about any of these groups then you can find out more on our groups page here. Alternatively if you would like to add YOUR groups details to the Cranbrook Community Association website then follow this link.
The Benefits of Being Part of a Community
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Cranbrook has a thriving community. From the sports groups to the social clubs, you will find lots of variety on the Cranbrook Community Association group pages. But what is it that inspires people to take action for their community? What are the benefits of being part of a community? Here are a few reasons we at CCA think that it’s great to be part of Cranbrook community.
Making New Friends
Getting to know your neighbour isn’t as easy as it used to be. Gone are the days when you would pop next door for a cup of sugar (thank you late night co-op opening hours!). And with people having ever increasingly busy lives with jobs and family commitments, it can be hard to find time to socialise and get to know people. Taking part in a community event or joining a community group can be a fantastic way to make friends that live in Cranbrook and to enjoy yourself at the same time! On the Cranbrook Community Association group pages, you will find information relating to all sorts of groups so whether you are crafty, sporty or looking for a more informal group, there is something for everyone!
Keep in Touch with What’s Happening in Your Local Area
Being part of the community allows you to find out about what is happening in your local area and be more informed with local developments. Whether its hearing the latest developments on the Town Centre or finding out about community events, being part of the community will mean that you can be much more informed on local news and developments.
Make A Difference
Have you spotted a gap in the Cranbrook community where you could make a difference? Could you join a group that makes a positive impact in the local community? Being part of the community will help you to make a difference to local people and benefit the community too!
Helping Others
Whether it’s feeding the neighbours cat or helping run a kid’s group, helping others is a really rewarding reason to be part of the community. It doesn’t have to take up much of your time or your money, but it can make someone’s day. By the community coming together and helping each other, we can create an even stronger community feel that the whole of East Devon will be jealous of!
If you want to get more involved in Cranbrook community then why not sign up to become an individual Cranbrook Community Association member? We would love to have you on board!
If you would like to learn more about our community then you can find most of the information, you’ll need on the Cranbrook Community Association Website.
